Lightweight Rooftop PV Module of BIPV

What is BIPV?

BIPV is the abbreviation of Building-Integrated Photovoltaics, which refers to a green energy technology that integrates photovoltaic (PV) modules into the building envelope (such as roofs, facades, curtain walls, skylights, or canopies) to serve both as building materials and power-generating devices.

Traditional glass crystalline silicon modules can weigh 15-20 kg per square meter, which poses a severe challenge to the load-bearing capacity of many roofs. However, our developed lightweight flat metal tiles weigh only 3-5 kg per square meter. In some old buildings or villas/residential buildings with relatively weak roof structures, their lightweight feature makes the installation of PV systems feasible, greatly expanding the range of buildings suitable for photovoltaic applications.
